From today (Monday, Oct. 19th), there will be free delivery of all cards and letters posted to and from residents of nursing and care homes.
Introduction of the measure coincides with an expected announcement later today of more stringent restrictions in the effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The move by An Post will cover letters, cards, large envelopes and and packages weighing up to two kilograms.
No stamp is needed but senders must write FREEPOST where the stamp would normally be stuck.
Also, there must be a return address on all items, as they will be checked to ensure they are going to or from a nursing home or residential care facility.
