Carphone Warehouse are closing all their standalone shops and outlets with immediate effect which is expected to lead to 486 job losses nationally.
Curry’s PC World, which is a part of Dixons Carphone group, will not be affected but the stores in Sligo, Letterkenny and Carrick on Shannon will close.
In a statement posted on their website, the group say footfall has fallen by over 40% in 2020 and they don’t expect enough new phone contracts to be signed.
They added there has been significant growth through their online retailers and through Currys PC World Stores.
Some staff will be kept on over the next couple of days for operational reasons.
Carphone Warehouse closed its stores in the UK last year.
