The Sligo U20 hurlers’ championship season came to an end on Tuesday, after their 2-19 to 1-15 loss to Derry in the All Ireland B Championship semi final.
In sweltering conditions in Markievicz Park, Peter and Paul O’Grady’s side held with Derry for the first half, going into the break level at 1-8 a piece.
Derry’s second goal, coming five minutes into the second half through Padraig O’Kane, opened the gap between the teams, giving his side a steady 6 point advantage for the remainder of the game.
Despite the result, a lot of these young Sligo players aren’t finished yet – expect to see plenty of them line out this weekend for the Christy Ring Cup semi final against Derry.
