The Minister for Further and Higher Education is due in Sligo this morning.
Simon Harris, who also has responsibility for research, innovation and science, will visit St Angela’s College in Clogherevagh and IT Sligo.
In the afternoon, he will visit Sligo College of Further Education and the Mayo/Sligo/Leitrim Education and Training Board’s centre in Sligo.
Minister Harris’s visit comes at a time when major developments are on the way for third-level education in the north west.
Among them is a merger between St Angela’s College and IT Sligo , and the establishment of a Connacht Ulster Technological University in the north west comprising IT Sligo, Letterkenny IT and Galway/Mayo IT.
