A Leitrim councillor is calling for a special fund to be established to help those impacted by weather or road emergencies, such as the events that occurred on Shass Mountain in Drumkeerin last year.
Cllr Enda Stenson is calling on the local authority to investigate the possibility of developing a ‘rainy day’ fund to deal with unexpected emergencies.
The independent councillor says such an emergency fund could be used to tackle emergencies rather than having the local authority to go through the process of applying to central government for assistance.
