Schools, creches and colleges advised to close across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal today

Schools, creches and third level institutions across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are being advised closed today due to Storm Barra.

The Minister for Education, Norma Foley announced yesterday evening that primary, secondary and third level institutions in Orange and Red alert areas are advised to closed.

Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Dublin are the only counties nationwide that remain under an Orange weather warning today.

The warning ends at 8am this morning for Sligo and Leitrim while Donegal will remain under the weather warning until 2pm this afternoon.

All counties revert to a Yellow warning until 6pm this evening.

Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, Patrick O’Donovan says a number of factors have to be taken into consideration over the closure of schools especially in rural areas areas.
