There are still a large number of homes entering into another day without electricity this morning in the north west.
The homes, businesses and farms in parts of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are among 13,000 across the country that are still without power in the aftermath of Storm Barra. The South East of the country has also a large number of homes also without power this morning.
Locally there are power outages reported in areas such as Coollooney, Enniscrone, Manorhamilton, Arigna and Boyle.
ESB crews worked into the night to restore power.
A number of boil water notices are also in place in parts of the west due to treatment issues caused by the storm.
Meanwhile many schools are reopening today following storm enforced closures.
In a statement ESB Networks said that the severity of the damage caused by Storm Barra, meant access was difficult in many instances with small pockets of customers potentially left without power until Friday at the earliest.
It added that it was moving crews from less impacted areas of the country to assist engineers in the most severely impacted areas to reconnect customers.
