Local interest in this year’s FAI Junior Cup has ended following defeats for both Carbury FC and Boyle Celtic.
Reigning Sligo Southern Hotel champions Carbury FC travelled to Drimnagh to face Oliver Bond Celtic.
Absent many regular players including Niall Brennan and Aaron Murren, Carbury had many chances in normal time but not convert them.
The Sligo-town based side were made count the cost for their lack of accuracy in front of goal as Oliver Bond found the back of the net in the second half of extra-time.
Jessica Farry got the thoughts of Carbury FC’s Andrew McLaughlin following the game.
Elsewhere, Boyle Celtic suffered a three-one defeat to a much-fancied Villa FC in Waterford.
Jake McCann’s charges took the lead at Connors Park through a Darren Foley finish after twenty-five minutes.
However, the home side responded straight away through a penalty and pushed on scoring two goals in the second half.
Boyle Celtic had a chance to reduce deficit with a penalty of their own two minutes from time but Finbarr Cregg saw his effort go wide.
