A Minister of State and Sligo Leitrim TD is hopeful that a new compensation scheme for Gardai will greatly improve members experience with applications.
It’s envisaged that the planned changes will result in the majority of cases being resolved without legal proceedings, consequently lowering the level of legal costs.
The current scheme has been in operation since the 1940s with the need for reform highlighted for some time.
