A Donegal Sinn Fein TD has hit out at the Government over what has been termed a failure to provide any financial supports to fishermen.
This is despite encouragement from the EU Commission to do so.
Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn raised the issue in the Dáil during Pre-European Council Statements.
Deputy MacLochlainn says many fishermen are struggling to head out to sea and carry out their work because of they are unable to afford the spiralling cost of fuel and something must be done to help them:
