Survey reveals parents in North West struggle with back to school costs



A new survey has revealed that parents in the North West are struggling significantly with back to school costs.

 

The survey by the Irish League of Credit Unions shows the average spend per secondary school child’s 1,518 euro, and 1,195 euro at primary school level.

 

Counties in Connacht and Ulster had the highest percentage of parents in the country getting into debt to cover back to school costs at 32%, the national average was 29%.

 

It comes as families are to get a 100 euro boost in the back-to-school allowance, along with a package of other measures to help tackle rising costs.
