There’s been a major breaktrough this evening in the future of cardiology services at Sligo Unviersity Hospital, just two weeks after the cessation of the Cath Lab facility at the hospital.
The Taoiseach and the Minister for Health have both given a commitment to increase to three, the number of cardiologists at the hospital , the provision of a cardiac CT, and the centralisation of cardiology services in the hospital.
It follows discussions involving the hosptial’s current cardiologist, Dr Donal Murray, and Sligo-Leitrim Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry, who says what has been promised was part of his condition in supporting the Government in this evening’s no confidence vote.
A commitment has also been given toward progressing the hospital’s new four-storey medical block……
The development has also been welcomed this evening by Junior Minister for Health, Frank Feighan….
