Sligo GAA has confirmed that Tony McEntee will stay on as senior football team for 2023.
McEntee’s re-appointment was announced by the county board on Tuesday afternoon.
It follows a recent end-of-season review of Sligo’s campaign between McEntee and county executive officers.
Sligo finished third in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League, narrowly missing out on promotion.
They had championship wins over New York in Connacht, and against London and Leitrim in the new Tailteann Cup before losing out narrowly to Cavan at the semi-final stage.
McEntee’s backroom team will stay the same, with Mayo’s Joe Keane, Easkey’s Noel McGuire and goalkeeping coach Paul Durcan from Drumcliffe/Rosses Point operating as selectors.
It’s also understood that McEntee will have the option of a further year subject to a review at the end of next season.
Curry’s Paul Henry, who guided Sligo to a memorable Connacht minor football championship title in 2021, has been named as the new county under-20 manager for the next two seasons (2023 & 2024).
He will again be supported by Enda Mitchell (Coolera-Strandhill), Colm McGee (Tubbercurry), Ross Donovan (Eastern Harps), JP Carden (Enniscrone-Kilglass) and Pat Kilcoyne (Tubbercurry).
Henry has been working with the new Sligo under-19 development squad since that minor championship success.
