Fishermen docked over rising fuel costs



The Agriculture and Marine Minister says efforts are being made to help struggling fishermen with the rising cost of fuel.

 

It’s been claimed that some local fishermen in the North West currently cannot afford to go sea due to the spiralling cost of fuel which has in turn ignited fears over the future of the sector.

 

Minister Charlie McConalogue was responding to questions on the issue from Donegal Sinn Fein TD Padraig MacLochlainn in the Dail this morning.

 

Deputy MacLochlainn described the situation as an impossible challenge and called for financial aid package to be put in place:
