A Sligo Councillor says it’s inconceivable that footpath works continue in Grange against the backdrop of significant opposition from residents.
The works have been funded under the Active Travel Scheme in the region of €50,000 and will see footpaths installed on the bridge and adjacent to the school.
There are fears locally that the new footpath will narrow the road further which could lead to significant traffic congestion during peak times.
A public meeting held this week in relation to the matter also heard that residents received no information regarding the works.
