There are calls on the community of Grange, Sligo County Council and local representatives to work together to come up with a solution to footpath plans in the village.
It follows confirmation from the Council that the works near the local primary school have ceased following a protest by residents this week.
There was concern locally on the narrowing of bridge which would effectively render it a single lane and protests were staged at the site earlier this week.
A statement released by the Local Authority in Sligo added that the Contractor will make the Works Area safe, before leaving the site.
Sinn Fein Cllr Thomas Healy believes there now is an opportunity for everyone to move forward:
