Gardai have confirmed that the body of a man in his 70’s has been recovered from the Garavogue river.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the discovery of the body which was taken from the water at Ballast Quay in Sligo town yesterday evening.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was removed to Sligo University Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out in due course.
In a statement to Ocean FM news gardaí have confirmed that a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
