A Sligo Councillor has called for the immediate payment of the long-awaited pandemic recognition payment to nurses, midwives and other frontline workers
It’s been claimed that Despite Government announcements and statements directly to the media that the pandemic recognition payment for frontline workers would be paid immediately, there are still those that work in healthcare settings waiting for the bonus to be paid.
Sligo Councillor Arthur Gibbons says workers in the private health care sector including those working in the Nazareth House facility in Sligo are still waiting for payment.
The Sligo Strandhill Councillor is also taking issue with a decision by the HSE to hire a private company to oversee the distribution of the payment despite the Health Service Executive having all the workers details on a data base since the introduction of the Covid-19 vaccination jabs.
