Former Sligo boss joins Cork management team

Former Sligo senior gaelic football manager Kevin Walsh has joined Cork’s management team for the 2023.

Walsh has been added to manager John Cleary’s set-up as the team coach.

The Galway native, who won two All-Ireland titles as a player in 1998 and 2001, managed Sligo for five years from 2008 to 2013.

He subsequently managed Galway from 2015 to 2019.

Walsh’s appointment was ratified at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Cork county board.

Cork will be operating in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League in the New Year.

Another former Sligo mentor, Gerry McGowan, was recently appointed to Davy Burke’s new backroom team in Roscommon, where he will also work alongside Donegal All-Ireland winner Mark McHugh.
