A Sligo-Leitrim TD believes the Transport Minister’s confirmation that bypasses in towns including Carrick-On-Shannon will be a priority is of benefit to road users in the North West.
Many motorists currently experience delays when driving through the Leitrim town due to increased traffic congestion and a higher volume of cars.
The preferred transport route was displayed publicly in June 2022, however, is still be finalised along with the Environmental Evaluation phase which in turn, will allow progression of the upgrade.
Fine Gael Deputy Frank Feighan is confident the necessary steps will be carried out to put a bypass into place:
