Donegal have begun their Allianz Football League Division 1 campaign with a spirited 0-13 to 1-9 win over reigning league and All-Ireland champions Kerry in Ballybofey.
Team captain Paddy McBrearty kicked his only score of the match, which was the winning one, in the final minute of added time to the delight of the home fans at a rain-sodden and windy MacCumhaill Park.
Naomh Padraig’s Lochlan McColgan produced a Player-of-the-Match display, scoring three points from wing half-back.
Both sides were depleted but the win surely gives Donegal an early ‘pep in their step’.
