Coola Post Primary School from Sligo captured the SFAI Connacht junior ‘B’ cup title with a 3-1 win over Abbey Community College, Boyle, in Monday’s final played at Ray MacSharry Park in Cranmore.
The team, largely made up of Arrow Harps FC under-16 footballers, beat Foxford in the provincial under-17 semi-final four days previously by the same scoreline.
Team manager Eamonn Bruen gave Austin O’Callaghan some background to Coola’s rise and success in girls soccer.
The victory means Sligo schools have won two of provincial soccer titles this season.
Last Thursday, St Attracta’s Tubbercurry lifted the Senior ‘A’ cup title with a 1-0 victory over Claregalway.
