There was disappointment for Coláiste Cholmcille of Ballyshannon in Wednesday evening’s under-19 Markey Cup final in Roslea as Dean Maguire College from Tyrone emerged victors on a final scoreline of 3-8 to 1-10.
In an evenly-contested final, goals from Sean Óg Teague, James McCallan and Calum Stewart proved to be the key scores for the winners.
Ballyshannon trailed by 1-5 to 0-4 at half-time – but despite conceding a second goal shortly after the restart, the Donegal school battled gamely and Anton Govorov’s fine individual goal gave them fresh hope in the second 30 minutes.
However, Coláiste Cholmcille were unable to take enough of the goal chances which came their way – wheras their opponents were that bit more clinical in front of goal on the night
