Sligo’s Mona McSharry swam to a silver medal for the University of Tennessee on Wednesday night at the prestigious Southeastern Conference Swimming Championships (SEC) in Texas.
McSharry took silver in the final of the women’s 50 metres freestyle, clocking 21.72 seconds, which was the fourth-quickest time ever by a Tennessee swimmer in this event.
Her previous medals in the SEC came in breaststroke events – this was her first freestyle medal.
