There was disappointment for Sligo senior women’s rugby team in Sunday’s Connacht league semi-final in Strandhill as Tuam/Oughterard won out on a final scoreline of 22-34
Jamie Bowes Sligo side had lost just once in the league en-route to this play-off, but on the day the visitors prevailed by a margin of 12 points.
The sides were level at 10-10 at half-time and there was little to chose between them as game ticked into the closing stages.
However, Aebha Lydon’s try for the Tuam/Oughterard in the dying moments proved to be the game-clinching score.
Tuam/Oughterard will now face Westport in the Connacht final on March 4th.
