It’s thought that individual means testing should be introduced for payments to family carers.
The calls were made in the Dáil by Independent Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin who says there are many carers who are missing out on payments.
The comments were made as part of statements on a motion on reform of the carers allowance scheme.
