Eviction Ban Bill 'lesser of two evils' - Harkin

Independent TD Marian Harkin has described her intentions to support the Sinn Fein Bill to extend the eviction ban as voting for the 'lesser of two evils'.

Opposition parties say thousands could face eviction and homelessness in the coming weeks, as the no-fault eviction ban ends on Friday.

The Government is insisting that 'safety net' measures they have put in place will protect renters from being evicted.

Speaking in the Dail last night, Deputy Harkin says while it's a hugely complex issue, ultimately an extension must be given the green light:
