Sligo clinch play-off place after win over Harlequins

Sligo senior men’s rugby team have qualified for the end-of-season promotion-relegation play-offs in the Energia All-Ireland League following Saturday’s 40-7 win over fellow promotion rivals Belfast Harlequins at Strandhill.

Tries from Brendan Cunningham, Kuba, Euan Brown, Cathal Finneran and Hubert Gilvarry helped Sligo secured a comprehensive win although this contest was a lot closer than the final scoreline suggests.

The result means Sligo have secured fourth place in Division 2B and now look forward to a promotion-relegation play-off semi-final next Saturday (April 22nd) against the ninth-placed side from Div 2A, UL Bohemians, in Annacotty, Co Limerick, at 2:30pm.

Saturday’s Div 2B results
Sligo 40 Belfast Harlequins 7
Greystones (champions) 31 Enniscorthy 27
Galwegians 42 Dungannon 33
Wanderers 36 Malahide 14
