Sligo Restaurateur seeks adequate support for Hospitality Businesses that are struggling as a result of reduced accommodation



A Sligo Restaurateur says proposals for a waiver for commercial rates waver for the Hospitality Sector does not go far enough to make up for the loss of tourism income due to limited accommodation being available.

 

The State has indicated it could help those in the hospitality industry in towns where there isn’t enough tourist accommodation due to hotels housing asylum seekers.

 

Anthony Gray says restaurant revenue incomes are dropping substantially due to falling number of tourists.

 

The former President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland’s says many restaurants in the North West have suffered a reduction in business as a result of the shortage of tourist accommodation.
