Calry’s Zola Flynn is runner-up in Cork City Marathon

Calry Athletic Club’s Zola Flynn finished second in the women’s race at the Cork City Marathon on Sunday.

In sweltering conditions, Flynn – a previous winner in Cork in 2018 – took silver behind winner Lizzie Lee in a time of 2 hours 55 minutes.

She is a daughter of well-known Sligo athletics coach Ray Flynn, who died suddenly in 2022.

25 members of Flynn extended family took part in Sunday’s Cork City event across the 10k, half-marathon and full marathon races.
