Sligo outgunned by Roscommon

Sligo footballers suffered what was, in the end, a comprehensive 1-21 to 1-11 defeat to Roscommon in Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC Group 3 game at a sweltering Dr Hyde Park in Roscommon.

In front of 5,773 supporters, Tony McEntee’s side competed gamely with opponents with Alan Reilly’s well-taken second-half goal giving them genuine hope.

However, closing quarter saw the hosts up the gears with Enda Smith and Diarmuid Murtagh prominent en route to a ten-point victory.

Sligo’s Luke Towey spoke with Ocean FM Sport’s Colm McGee after the game.

Despite the loss, Sligo can still make the knockout stages of the Sam Maguire Cup.

The final group game will be against Dublin on Saturday, November 17th, at a neutral venue.
