There were almost 290 offers of social housing refused in the past two years across the North West, with a variety of reasons given.
According to research by the Irish Independent, Donegal had the highest amount of refusals at 176 followed by Sligo at 91 and Leitrim at 19.
Small gardens, no parking and an ‘unsuitable’ location were some of the reasons given.
More than five thousand offers of social housing nationwide were turned down in 2021 and 2022 – almost one in five of offers made during the two year period.
