Today’s fatal train incident has been described as a sad day for Sligo.
One woman has been killed and another seriously injured after being struck by a train near Collooney this afternoon.
The road has since reopened to traffic, and passengers have been taken off the train and transported to Boyle via bus.
An investigation is underway into the incident.
