Survivor of Sligo train tragedy pays emotional tribute to her Aunt



The survivor of yesterday’s train tragedy in Sligo has paid an emotional tribute to her Aunt Jessica McLoughlin.

 

The mother of four from Sligo town died after being struck by the 3.05 Sligo to Dublin train near Ballisodare.

 

Her niece, Rebecca McLoughlin who’s in her 20s and also from Sligo remains in Sligo University Hospital after sustaining injuries as a result of the incident.

 

Rebecca is said to be having treatment for broken bones.

 

Taking to social media today, Rebecca McLoughlin described her Aunt Jessica as ‘one in a million’.

 

“My heart is broke. Lying in each other’s arms them last few moments I’ll never forget what you said to me. I’ll cherish that memory for as long as I live and will never forget you.

 

“We were two peas in a pod, more like sisters. partners in crime more like lol. At least you’re finally at peace now with nanny and grandad and I promise I’ll do you all proud”.

 

Three separate investigations are continuing into the tragedy.
