Sligo’s super lightweight boxer Dean Clancy began his quest for Olympic qualification with a victory in the Preliminary Round at the European Games on Friday afternoon.
Clancy, who trains out of the Seán McDermott club in Manorhamilton defeated Austria’s Arsen Chabyan by unanimous decision.
Clancy is a part of a twelve-strong Irish team for the European Games which includes 2020 Olympic champion Kellie Harrington who defeated Slovakia’s Miroslava Jedinakova in the opening round.
