Sligo’s Dean Clancy won his light-welterweight last 16 bout at the European Games in Poland on Sunday.
Clancy, one of 15 Irish fighters competing at the Games this week, beat Malik Hasanov of Azerbaijan on a split decision in their closely-contested 63.5kg bout.

The result moves Clancy into the quarter-finals of his division.
If he wins his next bout against Italy’s Gianluigi Malanga on Wednesday afternoon, Clancy will secure qualification for the Paris Olympics next years – as all four semi-finalists at the European Games are assured of Olympic places.
