Commuters on the Sligo to Dublin rail service experienced delays to the service earlier this morning.
Iarnród Éireann has confirmed that an on-track machine that was working on the line near Longford overnight suffered a mechanical fault, as a result it blocked the line.
As a result, the 05:40 Sligo to Dublin Connolly was delayed by 60 minutes – other services were also delayed with the 11:00hrs Dublin Connolly to Sligo delayed by 15 minutes.
Iarnród Éireann has apologised for the inconvenience that the disruption caused.
