Counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal each saw an increase in the number of cars purchased in the first six months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
A total of 1,804 cars were purchased in county Donegal in the months of January to June, 200 of which were electric.
Leitrim also saw an increase with 45 more cars totalling 337 purchased in the first six months of 2023, 39 of which were electric.
Similar to its fellow North West counties, Sligo saw an increase with 801 cars purchased in the first six months compared to 771 in 2022.
Sligo also saw fifteen more electric cars purchased in the first six months of 2023, with 110 purchased.
In total, new car registrations for the first six months of the year nationally were up 18.8% to 77,488 when compared to June 2022.
14,307 new electric vehicles were registered nationally.
