Over 2,000 Ukrainian pupils enrolled in north west schools



There are just over 2,000 Ukrainian pupils enrolled in schools across the North West in figures published by the Department of Education.

As of June 12th, 395 were enrolled in Sligo, 234 of whom were enrolled in Primary education while 161 were attending Post-primary schools.

The figure is slightly lower in Leitrim with 346 pupils there. 212 are in Primary school with 134 have been accommodated at Post-primary schools.

Donegal, meanwhile, has seen a decrease in its figures at 1335, 868 in Primary and 467 in Post-primary.

Nationally, 15,625 Ukrainian pupils have been enrolled in schools across Ireland.

Department of Education figures show just over 10,000 are in the Primary school system with 5,484 enrolled in post-primary schools.
