Spending soars in Donegal pubs



Donegal saw the biggest pub spend increase in the country over the month of June.

 

The average daily spend in the county went up 34% last month.

 

Donegal, Mayo and Laois all saw big pub spend increases particularly during the June Bank Holiday weekend with a 20 per cent increase in hotel spend.

 

Spending in pubs nationally rose by 28 per cent last month, peaking on June 24th, the day of the Dublin Pride Parade.

 

The AIB Spend Trend figures revealed a slowdown in people booking airline travel compared to May with those aged 65 and over accounting for the biggest decrease down 10 per cent.

 

Restaurants had the highest average daily spend increase by customers from Cavan.

 

Overall average daily spending increased by 4 per cent while spend on groceries increased by 3 per cent.

 

The data was compiled from 70 million debit and credit card transactions in store and online during June 2023
