Former Sligo Rovers cup winner Eoin Doyle retires

St Patrick’s Athletic have confirmed that striker Eoin Doyle has retired from the game with immediate effect.

In a statement on Thursday, Doyle said he was calling time on his career mid-season for personal reasons.

A former Ireland U-15 international, 35-year-old Dubliner Doyle played for Shelbourne, Cherry Orchard and Crumlin United in his youth but made his League of Ireland debut with Shamrock Rovers in 2007.

He moved to Sligo Rovers in 2009, winning back-to-back FAI Cups in 2010 and 2011 – before moving to Hibernian in Scotland after finishing 2011 as the League of Ireland’s top scorer with 25 goals.
