Man pleads guilty to Sligo murders

A man has pleaded guilty to murdering two men in Sligo last year.

23-year-old Yousef Palani, of Markievicz Heights in Sligo, has also admitted causing serious harm to another man the day before he killed his first victim.

Within days of each other in April of last year, 41 year old Aidan Moffitt and 58 year old Michael Snee were found dead in their Sligo homes.

Yousef Palani was due to stand trial for the double-murder in November, but he pleaded guilty to the charges this morning.

He also admitted intentionally causing serious harm to a man in Sligo on the ninth of April last year – the day before he murdered Aidan Moffitt.

Aidan’s brother burst into tears when he pleaded guilty this morning.

The Snee family wasn’t in court today but will provide a victim impact statement for Palani’s sentence hearing, which is due to take place on the 23rd of October.

Aside from being presented with victim impact statements, the judge will also be given an overview of the facts of the case before Palani is handed a life sentence.
