Tony McEntee extends stay as Sligo manager

Sligo GAA has confirmed that Tony McEntee will remain on as Sligo senior football manager for 2024.

It will be the Crossmaglen man’s fourth year in charge.

Mayo’s Joe Keane will again be the team’s head coach.

It’s understood that the rest of the Management team will continue in their respective roles.

McEntee’s tenure to date has seen Sligo win promotion from Division 4, reach a Tailteann Cup semi-final (in the competition’s inaugural year) and a Connacht final this year.

The Yeats county also reached the group stage of the All-Ireland football championship this year, which saw them draw with Kildare – but suffer heavy defeats to Roscommon and eventual All-Ireland champions Dublin.

Sligo GAA says McEntee and his management team will be watching club championship games over the next two months.

The Homeland Sligo senior football championship begins on the weekend of August 19/20th.

Elsewhere –  after guiding Sligo under-20s to an All-Ireland final earlier this year, Curry’s Paul Henry has been given a two-year extension to his role.

Henry and his backroom team will also supervise Sligo’s work with a development squad for 18- and 19-year-olds that don’t make the final U20 squad in the coming year.
