‘Lessons need to be learned’ from Sligo accommodation controversy



The former President of the Students Union at ATU Sligo says lessons need to be learned as the controversy surrounding two apartment complexes in Sligo appears to have come to an end.

 

It follows confirmation that the Department of Children is no longer award a contract to management at Benbulben and Milligan Court to house refugees.

 

The complexes were traditionally used as student accommodation, and if they were to no longer do so, it would have left hundreds of people with nowhere to live for the upcoming academic year.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM news this evening, former President Daire Martin says trust now needs to be rebuilt.

 

He also says that the ATU need to be more proactive going forward to ensure that something like this never happens again:
