There were Leitrim Connacht Gold senior football championship wins on Saturday evening for Glencar/Manorhamilton, Ballinamore Seán O’Heslin’s and holders St Mary’s – as Drumkeerin and Melvin Gaels both made winning starts to their respective intermediate championship campaigns.
Glencar/Manor scored 21 points in a 10-point win over Dromhair in Boggaun.
St Mary’s were far too strong for Aughawillan at Pairc Naomh Mhuire, winning by 3-13 to 0-5 – while the second-half introduction of Wayne McKeown helped Mickey Graham’s Sean O’Heslin’s turn their contest agaisnt Leitrim Gaels the Ballinamore club’s way.
In the Smith Monumentals intermediate football championship, Drumkeerin came from behind to score an impressive six-point win over Carrigallen.
Melvin Gaels edged the north Leitrim derby at St Hughes Park on a 0-10 to 0-9 scoreline against Ballinaglera.
