Father John Joe Duffy of Creeslough has been given the honour of leading the National Novena to Our Lady of Knock as the first guest speaker.
He’s due to speak at the Knock Shrine at 3pm and 8pm today.
Fr John Joe Duffy was praised for being a pillar of strength presiding over the funerals of those who were killed in the Creeslough tragedy and the pastoral care for the grieving families in the time that followed.
Fr Duffy will speak on the theme of ‘Caring for Others’. He will share his experience of helping the community of Creeslough through the tragedy which claimed the lives of 10 people and how his faith sustained him and others.
The National Novena to Our Lady of Knock begins today and will run until the 22 August.
Over the course of the nine-day Novena, there will be a range of guest speakers each day who will offer insights on a variety of topics.
The theme for this year is ‘Caring for Creation.’
