Teachers call on Minister to make job more attractive

A former vice-Principal says a number of variables are deterring people away from the teaching profession.

Currently, there are at least 416 vacant teaching jobs in secondary schools across the country.

Teachers are calling on the Minister for Education Norma Foley to overhaul the profession to attract more people into the job.

Seán Wynne, former vice-Principal of Drumshanbo Vocational School says a few simple steps would allow for vacant positions to be filled.
