A number of sectors within HSE to take industrial action

HSE clerical and administrative staff across the North West have served notice of industrial action.

It comes following the results of a ballot last week, in which Fórsa members voted over a dispute on outsourcing and a recruitment ban.

The industrial action will begin next month.

The union ballot, which was backed by 93.3% of members, came off the back of a HSE decision to stop all recruitment of clerical and administrative staff in July.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Michelle Connaughton, Fórsa’s representative in Sligo, said the staff currently don’t feel valued.

Following that, Fórsa members working in eight health and social care professions (HSCP) in the HSE and Section 38 organisations are to commence industrial action following the result of a union ballot on Monday.

It’s understood the industrial action is a result of nearly five years without the implementation of a career pathway review.

The union ballot, backed by 93.5% of members, covered eight professions (Dietitians, Orthoptics, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work and Social Care Work) working across the HSE and section 38 organisations.

It’s expected that they will begin their industrial action on September 11th.
