Tributes paid to Bundoran native Bishop Liam MacDaid



Tributes have been paid to Bishop Liam MacDaid, Bishop-Emeritus of Clogher.

Bishop MacDaid was Bishop of Clogher from 2010 until his retirement on health grounds in October 2016.

A native of Bundoran, Bishop MacDaid was previously the President of St Macartan’s College in Monaghan and Administrator of the Parish of Tyholland as well as serving in the roles of Diocesan Secretary and Chancellor of the diocese.

Following his studies for the priesthood at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, he was ordained in June 1969.

Bishop MacDaid was also a prominent Gaelic footballer and won many football championships at all levels.

In 2019, Bishop MacDaid was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Réalt na Mara, Bundoran.
