There was disappointment for North Sligo's Chris O'Donnell in the heats of the men's 400 metres at the World Athletics Championships on Sunday morning.
O'Donnell finished seventh in his round 1 heat, in a time of 46.76 secs, which wasn't quick enough to progress to the last 16.
A semi-final place would have earned him significant qualification points for next summer's Paris Olympics.
“I’ve absolutely no regrets about this weekend. I’ve exceeded my own expectations and I’ll be going home happy.”

After helping the Ireland 4 x400m mixed relay team to a sixth-place finish in Saturday night's final, O'Donnell had indicated that he had been feeling a little unwell.
The exertions of Saturday's relay races may ultimately have taken a toll on his energy levels for Sunday morning's 400m heats.
